Overnight works set to close A533 Expressway Bridge in both directions
Preparation work will begin on Wednesday night as part of a scheme to replace the Expressway Bridge.
The M56/A533 Expressway Bridge, a concrete bridge that carries the Chester Road over the M56 motorway, will be closed overnight in both directions.
The bridge is located between junctions 11 and 12 and is a vital link, providing access across the M56 to Runcorn from Preston Brook and Northwich.
The plan is to replace the existing structure with a new two-span concrete bridge consisting of a single two-lane carriageway and a combined footpath/cycleway.
National highways England are set to close the A-road between 8pm on the Wednesday, November 17, until 6am Thursday, November 18.
The road could also close overnight on Thursday, November 18, also being booked as a contingency plan.
The work being carried out will include diverting communication cables and some vegetation clearance.
There will also be a two-lane closure on the M56 westbound overnight on November 15, 16, 17 and 18.
One lane will be open for traffic and running at normal speed during these times.
